The Treatment

What is Wood Therapy?

Also known as Maderotherapy, a wood therapy massage is performed using specially shaped wooden instruments, chosen for the area being worked on. Different tools are used across the body depending on the treatment area and the outcome you are working towards.

The rhythmic massage and sculpting techniques work across the treated area as part of a body-contouring programme, and the intensity can be adjusted to your comfort throughout.

At J Artistry Clinic, this is not a one-size-fits-all treatment. Your treatment is selected and adapted according to your body, your treatment area and your goals.

The Wood Therapy Tools

Real wooden tools, used with technique.

Wood therapy tools are not interchangeable. Each shape does a different job, and part of the skill is knowing which tool suits which area and which outcome. These are the wooden massage tools used across a J Artistry Clinic treatment.

Ribbed wooden rollerThe signature wooden massage roller. Rolled in rhythmic passes over the thighs, hips and abdomen as part of a contouring sequence.
Swedish cupA concave wooden cup used with suction-style movements across smaller, more contoured areas such as the waist and arms.
Contour boardA flat, anatomically curved wooden board used to sculpt and define along the waistline, hips and outer thighs.
Cube and mushroom toolsSmaller shaped wood tools used where a roller is too large, and for more targeted work on specific areas.

Every tool is cleaned and sanitised between clients, and the pressure applied through them is adjusted to your comfort throughout.

What It Supports

What can Wood Therapy help with?

It may be used as part of a body-contouring programme to support the following.

Body sculpting and contouring
A more defined-looking waist and silhouette
The appearance of cellulite
Smoother-looking skin
Massage and circulation
Temporary puffiness and fluid retention
Sculpting of the thighs, hips and buttocks
Overall body-maintenance programmes

Wood Therapy is not a weight-loss treatment, and results vary between individuals. It is not a substitute for nutrition, physical activity or medical weight management. Its role here is body massage, contouring and aesthetic body maintenance.

Two Techniques

Colombian or Brazilian. We help you choose.

Both use specialist wooden instruments, but they emphasise different outcomes. You do not need to decide before you arrive.

Colombian Wood Therapy for the appearance of cellulite at J Artistry Clinic CoventryCellulite & Texture

Colombian Wood Therapy

The Colombian-inspired technique combines specialised wooden instruments with rhythmic manual techniques across targeted areas. It is particularly popular with clients looking to improve the appearance of cellulite and skin texture while incorporating body contouring into their routine.

Not sure which suits you? At your appointment we discuss your concerns, assess the areas you would like treated and determine which techniques are appropriate. Some clients benefit from a combination rather than following one approach exclusively. Our aim is to build a treatment plan around your body, not force your body into a standard protocol.

Treatment Areas

Areas we can treat.

The treatment can be performed across several areas of the body, individually or as part of a wider contouring programme.

Abdomen & Waist

For clients looking for a more contoured and defined appearance through the midsection.

Back & Flanks

Targeting the sides of the waist and back as part of an overall contouring programme.

Thighs

A popular area for clients concerned about the appearance of cellulite and uneven-looking skin texture.

Buttocks

Sculpting techniques can be used to complement the natural shape and appearance of the buttocks.

Hips

Often combined with waist and buttock treatment for a more complete contouring programme.

Arms

Targeted massage and contouring techniques can also be performed across suitable areas of the arms.

Your Appointment

What happens during your appointment.

Five steps, every time, so you always know what to expect before anything starts.

Consultation

We discuss your goals, medical history, treatment area and any relevant contraindications before anything begins.

Body Assessment

Your practitioner assesses the treatment area and determines which techniques and tools are most appropriate.

Your Treatment

A combination of manual massage and specialist wooden instruments is used across the selected areas. Intensity is adjusted to your comfort.

Treatment Plan

If you are working towards a particular contouring goal, we may recommend a structured course rather than occasional individual appointments.

Aftercare

You receive aftercare guidance to help you get the most from your treatment, plus progress monitoring where appropriate.

How Many Sessions

There is no universal number of sessions.

Some people book an occasional body-maintenance session. Others choose a structured course. For more noticeable body-contouring goals, consistency is usually more appropriate than relying on a single appointment.

Every body responds differently. Some clients notice temporary changes in how the treated area looks or feels after an appointment, while contouring programmes generally require consistency over time. Where appropriate and with your consent, we take progress photographs to help monitor changes throughout your course.

Your course depends on
  • Your starting point and treatment area
  • Your goals and desired outcome
  • Skin and tissue characteristics
  • Your lifestyle
  • How your body responds to treatment
  • Whether it is combined with other suitable treatments

Had cosmetic surgery recently? Please read this first.

Post-operative care is different from standard Wood Therapy. If you have recently had liposuction, a tummy tuck, breast surgery, a BBL or another cosmetic procedure, please do not book a standard Wood Therapy appointment.

Book or enquire about our Post-Operative Recovery Care instead, where your procedure, healing stage, your surgeon's instructions and your suitability can be assessed properly before anything is carried out.

Post-Operative Recovery Care

Wood Therapy questions, answered honestly.

If yours is not here, call the clinic on +44 7591 092255.

It can feel firm, because specialist tools and manual massage techniques are being used. Treatment should remain controlled and can be adjusted according to your comfort and the area being worked on. Severe pain should not be considered a normal requirement for achieving results. Tell your practitioner at any point and the pressure will be changed.

It may help improve the appearance of cellulite and skin texture, but we do not claim that it permanently removes cellulite. Cellulite is extremely common and is influenced by several factors including connective tissue structure, genetics, hormones and body composition.

No. It should not be used as a substitute for nutrition, physical activity or medical weight-management treatment. Its role at J Artistry Clinic is body massage, contouring and aesthetic body maintenance.

Changes in measurements can be influenced by several factors, including temporary fluid changes. For that reason J Artistry Clinic does not guarantee a specific number of inches lost. We focus instead on monitoring your individual progress throughout your treatment programme.

This varies between clients. Some people notice temporary visual or tactile changes after a treatment, while body-contouring goals generally require a consistent treatment programme rather than a single appointment.

Frequency depends on your goals, treatment area, response and overall plan. Your practitioner recommends an appropriate schedule rather than automatically prescribing the same frequency to every client.

This is a non-surgical treatment that does not require the recovery period associated with invasive procedures. You may experience temporary redness, tenderness or sensitivity following treatment.

No, and your safety comes before completing a treatment. It may not be appropriate in certain circumstances, including some medical conditions, acute illness, active infections, open wounds and significant inflammation. Other medical conditions, medications or recent procedures may also affect suitability. Please disclose your complete medical history during your consultation. Where we believe treatment is inappropriate, we may postpone or decline it and advise you to seek medical guidance.

You do not need to decide before you arrive. At your appointment we discuss your concerns, assess the areas you would like treated and determine which techniques are most appropriate. Some clients benefit from a combination rather than following one approach exclusively.

A treatment typically uses a ribbed wooden massage roller, a Swedish cup, a flat contour board and smaller cube or mushroom-shaped tools. Which tools are used depends on the area and the outcome you are working towards, not on a fixed sequence. All wooden massage tools are cleaned and sanitised between clients.

Wooden massage rollers, foot rollers and similar tools are widely sold, and gentle self-massage at home is generally fine for most people. What an at-home roller cannot do is assess your suitability, adjust technique and pressure across different areas, or build a structured contouring programme. If you already own tools, bring that up at your consultation and we will tell you honestly whether professional treatment will add anything for your particular goal.

Ask three things before booking anywhere. Whether the practitioner is trained in the specific technique being offered, whether you get a consultation and suitability check before treatment, and whether they are clear about what the treatment can and cannot do. Any clinic promising guaranteed inch loss or permanent cellulite removal is overselling it. We are in Spon End, Coventry, and happy to answer questions on the phone first.

Start your body sculpting journey.

Your body-contouring treatment should be based around your individual body, goals and suitability. Whether you are concerned about the appearance of cellulite, want to complement your natural curves, or simply want Wood Therapy as part of your body-maintenance routine, we will tell you honestly what is realistic.
