from £75Wellness Recovery
No surgery involvedFor puffiness, temporary fluid retention, heavy-feeling legs or bloating, with no operation behind it. Gentle manual lymphatic drainage using light, rhythmic technique.
Two different things get called recovery therapy. One is gentle drainage when you feel puffy and heavy. The other is structured care after surgery, where your procedure and your surgeon's instructions decide everything. We keep them separate, because they are.

Both are recovery therapy and both use the same underlying technique, but they are assessed and delivered differently. Booking the wrong one means we have to reschedule you.
from £75For puffiness, temporary fluid retention, heavy-feeling legs or bloating, with no operation behind it. Gentle manual lymphatic drainage using light, rhythmic technique.
from £90For anyone recovering from a procedure. Requires additional assessment because treatment must account for your surgery, healing stage, incisions, compression garments and your surgeon's instructions.
Work through these. If you are still unsure at the end, call and describe it in your own words. That is faster than guessing.
If yes, you need the post-surgical pathway, even if you feel completely fine. Standard wellness drainage is not the same service.
Unexplained, sudden or one-sided swelling needs medical assessment before any massage. Please see your GP first.
That is a medical condition needing a certified lymphoedema therapist. We do not treat it, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking.
Then wellness recovery is almost certainly what you want. Book a single session and see how you feel.
Depending on your pathway and stage, your recovery therapy may include the following.
We check what is actually going on before deciding what, if anything, to do.
Light, rhythmic, controlled technique adapted to your stage and your areas.
Monitoring what is expected and recognising what is not.
Where appropriate, assessing areas of firmness as healing progresses.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 garments supplied where suitable, alongside your surgeon's instructions.
Understanding what to expect, what to do at home and when something needs medical attention.
We know when to stop and send you to the right medical service.
If you do not need another appointment, we will say so.
Be careful of anyone who does. What we can honestly offer is assessment as healing progresses, treatment adapted to what we actually find, and a straight answer about what recovery care can and cannot change.
No recovery therapy begins before we know where you are in your healing.
Your procedure if there was one, your surgery date, or simply what feels heavy and when.
We look at what is actually happening and check nothing rules treatment out today.
Gentle, controlled technique across the appropriate areas for your stage of recovery.
Aftercare guidance, and a straight answer on whether coming back would genuinely help.
Knowing when not to treat matters more than technique. Treatment may be postponed or stopped if we identify symptoms requiring medical assessment, including:
Depending on the symptoms you may be advised to contact your surgical team, NHS 111 or emergency services. Massage should never delay appropriate medical assessment, and we will not proceed simply because an appointment has been booked.
Ask Before You Book
Recovery therapy is the part of the process most clinics treat as an afterthought. We treat it as the part that needs the most honesty.
Wellness and post-surgical recovery are different services, assessed differently. We do not blur them to simplify a booking.
We complement surgical aftercare. We do not override your surgeon, diagnose complications, or pretend massage replaces medical treatment.
In recovery therapy, recognising a red flag matters more than technique. Treatment stops and you are directed to the right service.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 garments can be supplied where appropriate, with help on fit and progression.
If one session is what you need, that is what we recommend. We do not prescribe large courses that are not necessary.
We will not promise to prevent fibrosis, flush toxins or guarantee a surgical result. Nobody honestly can.
Specialist recovery therapy is harder to find than a general massage, so people travel for it. We are in Spon End, a few minutes from Coventry city centre, with parking nearby and easy access from the M6, M69 and M40. Clients travel to us from across Warwickshire and the West Midlands, and regularly from much further afield.
Already had your surgery? It is not too late. You do not need to have booked with us beforehand.
If yours is not here, call the clinic on +44 7591 092255.
At J Artistry Clinic, recovery therapy covers two things: gentle wellness lymphatic drainage for puffiness and fluid retention, and structured post-surgical recovery care after cosmetic surgery. Both use manual lymphatic technique, but they are assessed and delivered differently.
If you have had surgery in the last year, the post-surgical pathway, even if you feel fine. If there is no operation behind it and you simply feel puffy or heavy, wellness recovery. If you are unsure, call and describe it. We will tell you honestly.
Please do not. Post-operative clients need additional assessment because treatment has to account for your procedure, incisions, swelling, compression and your surgeon's instructions. Booking the wrong appointment wastes your time and ours, and we would have to reschedule you anyway.
No. Lymphoedema is a medical condition requiring a certified lymphoedema therapist, usually delivering Complete Decongestive Therapy alongside NHS or specialist care. If you have or suspect lymphoedema, please speak to your GP or a lymphoedema clinic.
It depends on your procedure and, above all, on your surgeon. Their instructions always take priority over any timeline we might suggest. Bring your discharge paperwork to your first appointment and we will work within it.
No. Those are no longer part of our service list. If you are recovering after a caesarean or any other surgery, post-surgery lymphatic drainage is the appropriate pathway, and we would ask you to speak with your midwife or GP first.
We will not claim that, and be careful of anyone who does. What we can do is assess areas of developing firmness as healing progresses and adapt your treatment. Fibrosis support is part of a structured programme, not a guaranteed single-session fix.
No. Manual lymphatic drainage is gentle and non-invasive. You can return to your day straight afterwards, subject to any aftercare given.
Recovery therapy is priced by pathway. Wellness lymphatic drainage is £75 per session, with 6 and 8 session courses available. Post-surgical recovery is £90 per session, with packages from 5 to 20 sessions. Full pricing is on each pathway page.
Then we do not treat you. If your symptoms suggest you need medical assessment, we will not proceed simply because an appointment has been booked. Your safety comes before completing a booking.
Whether you need recovery therapy three days post-op, three months in, or simply feel heavy by the end of the day, tell us what is going on and we will point you to the right pathway. Even if that pathway is your GP.

Real experiences from clients who recovered, restored, and renewed at J Artistry Clinic.
I had a BBL abroad and was terrified of getting the aftercare wrong. Joanna mapped out my entire 12-session post-op plan from day one. My results are smooth, even, and exactly what I paid for. She genuinely knows her stuff.
Eight weeks postpartum and I honestly couldn't believe how quickly I felt like myself again. The lymphatic drainage sessions reduced my swelling so fast. The whole team made me feel completely safe and cared for throughout.
I've been training seriously for four years and I've never recovered this well between sessions. The Advanced Athletic Recovery is genuinely different — not a massage, a clinical treatment. My legs feel lighter and I'm performing better.
Common questions about recovery therapy at J Artistry Clinic.
We recommend starting post-operative lymphatic drainage within 24 to 72 hours after surgery — however, you must always follow your surgeon's specific instructions. Some procedures, such as a tummy tuck, may require waiting until day 3–5. Our practitioners will assess your healing stage and create a plan aligned with your procedure and your surgeon's guidance.
The number of sessions typically ranges from 6 to 20, depending on your individual healing response, the type of surgery, and your goals. Our Essentials Package covers 5 sessions for early recovery, while the Ultimate Recovery Package provides 20 sessions for full post-surgical support. We'll recommend the right programme for you during your initial consultation — at no obligation.
Yes — all our post-partum treatments are performed by trained specialists using safe, non-invasive, restorative methods. The timeline depends on your delivery type: postpartum lymphatic drainage can begin from 3–4 weeks after a vaginal birth, and from 4–6 weeks after a C-section. Scar therapy and more advanced treatments begin later, once your body has had adequate time to heal. A consultation is required before your first treatment to personalise your plan to your recovery stage.
Lymphatic drainage is a specialised clinical technique — very different from a traditional massage. It uses light, precise, rhythmic movements specifically designed to encourage lymph flow and support the body's natural detoxification process. Regular massage uses pressure to work muscle tissue. Lymphatic drainage focuses on circulation rather than pressure, making it ideal for post-surgery, post-partum, bloating, and fluid retention — without the aggressive techniques of a standard massage. All our treatments are recovery-focused, not relaxation-only.
Absolutely. Our athletic recovery treatments are designed for anyone who trains — whether you're a casual gym-goer, a recreational runner, or a competitive athlete. If you experience muscle heaviness, tightness, soreness, or simply want to improve how your body recovers between sessions, our treatments are built for you. We adapt every session to your training load and physical demands, so no two sessions are exactly the same.
Whether you're recovering from surgery, healing after birth, or supporting your training — your body deserves expert care. Book your session today and let our specialist team build a recovery plan that's completely personal to you.
