Legal DNA Testing
Court-admissible testing with formal photo ID verification, witnessed collection and a documented chain of custody from swab to report. A home kit cannot produce this.
Book Legal TestWhether you need an answer for yourself or evidence that will stand up officially, the process matters as much as the science. We do the witnessed appointment, the identity checks and the paperwork properly, because without them a result is just a number.

A DNA test is only accepted by a court or the Home Office if it follows a strict, documented process from the moment the sample is taken. A home kit posted through your door cannot meet that standard.
Court-admissible testing with formal photo ID verification, witnessed collection and a documented chain of custody from swab to report. A home kit cannot produce this.
For UK visa, settlement, nationality and passport applications where documentary proof of a family relationship is unavailable or has been questioned.
Witnessed sample collection carried out to the instructions of an overseas or UK laboratory, where you have already arranged the test elsewhere.
The laboratory analysis behind a legal test and a peace of mind test is identical. What separates them is everything around it.
A legal test formally verifies the identity of every participant and documents an unbroken chain of custody from collection through to the laboratory report. Without that, a DNA result carries no evidential weight in UK proceedings, however accurate the science behind it.
Legal tests are typically required for family court proceedings, child arrangement and maintenance cases, contested inheritance and probate, birth certificate amendments and social services assessments. If you are not sure which you need, your solicitor will normally advise, and we are happy to talk it through first.
A DNA paternity test for your own knowledge, with no court or Home Office involvement. These are not admissible in court or for immigration purposes. All prices include two participants unless stated.
All tests include 2 participants. Each additional participant is £125. Mobile appointments from £99 anywhere in the UK, and international collection from £150 where a participant is overseas. Not sure which test fits? Call and describe it. Sibling, grandparent, aunt and uncle or Y-chromosome testing can often establish a relationship when the person in the middle is unavailable. Call +44 7591 092255.

Waiting until birth is not always realistic, and the uncertainty is rarely something people want to sit with for months. Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing can answer the question from as early as 7 weeks.
It works by analysing the baby’s DNA that naturally circulates in the mother’s bloodstream, compared against a cheek swab from the alleged father. Nothing is taken from the baby and there is no risk to the pregnancy.
If you need the result for a legal or immigration matter rather than for your own knowledge, tell us when you book, because the process differs and it has to be arranged correctly from the start.
No queues, no posting samples to a stranger, and no guessing what you need to bring.
Choose your test and appointment. We confirm who needs to attend, what ID to bring and anything your solicitor has specified.
A simple, painless cheek swab taken at the clinic. Identity is verified and documented where the test requires it.
Samples are analysed by AlphaBiolabs at a UKAS ISO 17025-accredited UK laboratory.
Results are released only to the people entitled to receive them, and explained if you want them explained.

We do not run a laboratory, and we would not pretend otherwise. Our role is the part that goes wrong most often: the appointment, the identity verification, the documentation and the secure transport.
Analysis is carried out by AlphaBiolabs, one of the UK’s most established DNA testing laboratories.
Any provider who cannot tell you which laboratory analyses your sample is worth a second thought.
Extra people, an overseas laboratory, or an appointment you cannot travel to. All three are arranged regularly.
Searching for DNA testing near me usually means you need it soon. Appointments are held at our clinic in Spon End, a few minutes from Coventry city centre, with parking nearby. Clients travel to us from across the West Midlands and much further, because a witnessed appointment cannot be done by post.
Where attending is genuinely impractical, a mobile appointment can be arranged within an agreed area. Call to discuss availability.
If yours is not here, call the clinic on +44 7591 092255.
For your own knowledge, yes, home kits exist and some are perfectly accurate at the analysis stage. What a posted kit cannot do is prove who provided the sample. That is why a home kit is never accepted by a court, the Home Office or HM Passport Office. If your matter is official, you need a witnessed appointment. If it is purely personal, our paternity test at £179 gives you the same laboratory with none of the doubt.
No. We do relationship and legal testing, not ancestry, ethnicity estimates or family-tree research. Those are a different kind of test with a different purpose, and consumer ancestry services handle them well. If you are trying to confirm a specific family relationship rather than explore your background, that is what we do.
No. We do not offer predictive health genomics, cancer risk panels or methylation testing, and we would not want you to book a relationship test expecting one. For health-related testing, speak to your GP, or see our private diagnostics for the blood testing and health screening we do offer.
No, we do not currently offer prenatal gender testing. Our prenatal service is non-invasive paternity testing, which answers a different question. Call if you are unsure which you are looking for.
Accuracy comes from the laboratory, not the brand on the box. Ours are analysed by AlphaBiolabs at a UKAS ISO 17025-accredited laboratory, No. 2773, which is the standard required for DNA evidence to be admissible in the UK. The bigger risk to a result is not the science, it is a broken chain of custody.
Peace of mind paternity testing is £179. Relationship tests such as sibling, grandparent or aunt and uncle are £299. Legal testing is £349 and Home Office immigration testing is £499. Prenatal paternity is £1,099. Every price on this page includes two participants, with each additional participant at £125.
The science is identical. The difference is the process around it. A legal test formally verifies the identity of every participant and documents an unbroken chain of custody from collection to report. Without that, a result carries no evidential weight in UK proceedings, however accurate the analysis. A peace of mind test is for your own knowledge only.
No. A posted home kit cannot verify who provided the sample, so it cannot be used for family court, immigration or any official purpose. If your matter is official, you need a witnessed appointment.
Immigration DNA testing. The Home Office, UK Visas & Immigration, HM Passport Office and Border Force require testing by a UKAS ISO 17025-accredited laboratory with a documented chain of custody. If you are unsure, speak to your solicitor or call us before booking.
No. It is a painless cheek swab that takes seconds. There are no needles and no blood for standard relationship testing.
Turnaround depends on the test and the laboratory's current schedule. We will give you a realistic timeframe when you book, rather than a best case you then have to chase.
Only the people entitled to receive them. For a peace of mind test that is you. For a legal test, results are released according to the instructions agreed at booking, which may include your solicitor or the court. Nothing is shared without the proper basis.
Yes. Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing is available from as early as 7 weeks. It uses a blood sample from the mother and a cheek swab from the alleged father, and carries no risk to the pregnancy.
It happens more often than people expect. Sibling, grandparent, aunt and uncle or Y-chromosome testing can often establish a relationship when the person in the middle is unavailable. Call and describe the situation and we will tell you which test fits.
Yes, a mobile appointment can be arranged within an agreed area where attending is not practical. Call to discuss availability and cost.
Yes. Our International Sample Collection service is £100 and covers professional witnessed collection to your laboratory's documented instructions.
Peace of mind paternity testing from £179, legal testing from £349, immigration testing at £499. If you are unsure which applies to your situation, call before you book rather than after.

A DNA test is only accepted by a court or the Home Office if it follows a strict, documented process from the moment the sample is taken. Here is exactly what that involves — and what you receive.
A legal DNA test — sometimes called a court-admissible or legally instructed DNA test — differs from a peace of mind test in one crucial way: the identity of every participant is formally verified, and an unbroken chain of custody is documented from collection through to the laboratory report.
Without that documentation, a DNA result carries no evidential weight in UK proceedings, however accurate the science behind it. This is why a legal test cannot be completed with a home kit posted through your door.
Legal DNA tests are typically required for family court proceedings, child arrangement and maintenance cases, contested inheritance and probate matters, birth certificate amendments, and social services assessments. If you are unsure whether your matter requires a legal test or a peace of mind test, your solicitor will normally advise — and we are happy to talk it through with you first.
What your legal DNA test includesWhere documentary evidence of a family relationship is unavailable or has been questioned, DNA evidence can be submitted in support of a UK visa, settlement, nationality or passport application. This is common in family reunion applications, spouse and dependant visas, and applications for British citizenship where birth records are incomplete or unavailable.
For DNA evidence to be accepted, the Home Office, UK Visas & Immigration, HM Passport Office and Border Force require that testing is carried out by a laboratory holding UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation, with samples collected under verified identity and documented chain of custody. Our laboratory partner AlphaBiolabs meets this requirement and is also a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association.
Where one participant is overseas, we can coordinate international sample collection through accredited partners so that both parties' samples reach the same UK laboratory correctly documented. Collection and courier fees vary by country and are quoted individually.
Commonly required forA DNA test is far simpler than most people expect. There are no needles for standard relationship testing — just a painless cheek swab, taken properly and documented correctly.
Choose your test online, or call us if you are unsure which one you need. We confirm your appointment and tell you exactly what to bring — including photo ID for legal and immigration tests.
Attend our Coventry clinic, or request mobile collection at your home or workplace. Identity is verified, cheek swabs are taken painlessly, and samples are sealed in tamper-evident packaging in front of you.
Samples are transported securely to AlphaBiolabs' UKAS ISO 17025-accredited UK laboratory. Your samples never leave the UK, preserving both sample integrity and the chain of custody.
Your report is issued privately and directly to you. Legal and immigration tests are accompanied by the formal expert documentation required for submission to a court or the Home Office.
Every DNA test includes two participants as standard. If your circumstances need more people, a different location, or a participant overseas, these options are available on request.
All DNA tests include 2 participants as standard. Where your case requires an extra person — common in sibling, grandparent and legal cases — each additional participant is £125, including their sample collection, laboratory analysis and inclusion in the final report.
Need to complete a DNA test with participants in different countries? We coordinate collection through accredited partners worldwide — whether a participant is overseas for work, study, immigration or personal reasons — while maintaining the required identification and chain of custody procedures. Collection and courier fees vary by country and are quoted individually.
We can conduct your DNA test anywhere in the UK if any participant is unable to attend the clinic for any reason — including illness, disability, distance, work commitments or childcare. A qualified professional attends your chosen location and maintains the correct chain of custody throughout.
J Artistry Clinic is based at Arches Estate, Spon End, Coventry — a short distance from Coventry city centre, with straightforward access from the ring road and from across the West Midlands.
Clients regularly attend our Coventry clinic from Birmingham, Solihull, Rugby, Nuneaton, Bedworth, Leamington Spa, Warwick and Kenilworth, as well as from further across Warwickshire and the wider West Midlands.
Where attending in person is not practical — because a participant lives elsewhere in the country, has mobility or health difficulties, or simply cannot take time away from work — our mobile DNA collection service operates UK-wide from £99. A qualified professional attends your home, workplace or another agreed location and follows exactly the same identity verification and chain of custody procedures used at the clinic.
DNA testing forms part of the wider J Artistry Diagnostics service, which also covers private blood testing, biomarker panels, wellness MOTs and corporate health screening.
Questions about accuracy, legal admissibility, confidentiality and what actually happens at your appointment. If your question isn't answered here, call or WhatsApp us — every enquiry is handled in complete confidence.
J Artistry Clinic provides professional DNA testing at Arches Estate, Spon End, Coventry, CV1 3JQ. You can book directly online without a GP referral or solicitor's instruction. We offer legal, immigration, paternity, maternity and full relationship DNA testing, with samples analysed by AlphaBiolabs — a UKAS ISO 17025-accredited, Ministry of Justice-approved UK laboratory. If you cannot attend the clinic, mobile collection is available from £99 anywhere in the UK.
The laboratory science is identical — the difference is the documentation around it. A peace of mind test (from £179) gives you an accurate private answer, but is not intended for official use. A legal DNA test (£349) additionally requires formal photo ID verification of every participant, witnessed sample collection, and an unbroken documented chain of custody. Only a legal test produces a report that a UK court, government body or official authority will accept as evidence.
Yes, where a legal or immigration test is booked and the correct chain of custody procedure is followed. All analysis is carried out by AlphaBiolabs, which holds UKAS ISO 17025 accreditation (Laboratory No. 2773) and is Ministry of Justice approved to carry out parentage testing. Their results are accepted by Family Courts, the Ministry of Justice, the Home Office, UK Visas and Immigration, HM Passport Office, Border Force and Immigration Enforcement.
Peace of mind paternity testing starts at £179. Maternity testing is £199, twin testing £249, and sibling, grandparent, aunt and uncle testing £299. Y-chromosome testing is £329. Legal DNA testing is £349 and immigration DNA testing is £499. Non-invasive prenatal paternity testing is £1,099. All tests include two participants; each additional participant is £125. Mobile appointments start from £99 and international coordination from £150.
For almost all DNA tests, no blood is required. A sterile swab is gently rubbed against the inside of the cheek for a few seconds to collect cheek cells. It is completely painless and entirely safe for babies, children and adults alike. The only exception is non-invasive prenatal paternity testing, which requires a blood sample from the mother alongside a simple cheek swab from the alleged father.
No. You can book a legal DNA test with us directly, without a solicitor's instruction or a court order. That said, if your test relates to active court proceedings, we recommend confirming with your solicitor exactly what the court has directed before booking — occasionally a court specifies particular requirements. We are happy to speak with your solicitor directly if that would help.
For legal and immigration DNA tests, every adult participant must bring valid photo ID — a passport or a UK photocard driving licence. For children, a passport or full birth certificate is required, and photographs are usually taken as part of the identity verification process. For peace of mind tests, formal ID is not required. Exact requirements are confirmed with you at the time of booking.
Yes. This is very common in immigration and family reunion cases. We coordinate international DNA testing from £150 through accredited collection partners worldwide, arranging secure sample collection abroad while maintaining the identity verification and chain of custody procedures required for official use. International collection fees and courier charges vary by country and are quoted individually.
Completely. Your results are released only to you (and, for legally instructed cases, to the instructing solicitor or authority you have nominated). Results are never shared with your GP, the NHS, insurers or any other third party without your explicit written consent. All personal and genetic data is handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Enquiries are handled discreetly from your first contact with us.
Yes. Our mobile DNA collection service starts from £99 and operates anywhere in the UK. This is often the right choice where a participant has mobility or health difficulties, lives some distance from Coventry, has childcare or work commitments, or would simply prefer a private setting. The same identity verification and chain of custody standards apply, so a mobile appointment can still be used for legal and immigration testing.
Both. Our clinic is based in Coventry, but our DNA testing service operates across the whole of the UK through mobile collection from £99. A qualified professional attends your home, workplace or another agreed location anywhere in England, Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, following exactly the same identity verification and chain of custody procedures used at the clinic. This means legal and immigration DNA testing is available UK-wide, not just to clients able to travel to Coventry.
DNA paternity testing is one of the most reliable tests in modern science. Where a tested man is not the biological father, the result excludes him with 100% certainty. Where he is the biological father, the probability of paternity is typically reported at 99.99% or higher. Accuracy depends on correct sample collection and accredited laboratory analysis — which is precisely why professional collection matters more than most people realise.
This is one of the most common reasons people contact us, and there is no need to work it out alone. Choosing the wrong test — particularly booking a peace of mind test when a legal one is required — means paying twice, so it is genuinely worth a two-minute conversation first. Call us on +44 7591 092255 or WhatsApp the same number, tell us what the test is for, and we will point you to the correct one.
Legal, immigration, paternity and full relationship DNA testing in Coventry and across the UK. Court-admissible and Home Office-compliant testing available. Analysed by an accredited UK laboratory. Completely confidential from your first message.
