Post-surgery lymphatic drainage
Gentle techniques adapted to your procedure, your swelling and your stage of recovery.
Looking for lymphatic drainage massage after liposuction, or post op massage near you? We provide gentle manual lymphatic drainage, swelling management, fibrosis support and compression guidance, planned around your procedure, your healing stage and your surgeon's instructions.

The body you see immediately after cosmetic surgery is not your final result. Your body has been through significant trauma and needs time to heal. In the weeks that follow you may experience:
This is why your recovery deserves the same planning as your surgery. We do not simply provide a massage and send you home. We provide a structured post-operative recovery pathway that changes as your body heals.

After liposuction, a tummy tuck or a BBL, your body's normal fluid balance and lymphatic pathways may be temporarily affected by surgical trauma, inflammation and swelling. Manual lymphatic drainage, often shortened to MLD, is the technique most surgeons mean when they recommend post-operative massage. For non-surgical puffiness and fluid retention, see our lymphatic drainage massage instead.
Post-operative lymphatic techniques use gentle, controlled movements to support lymphatic fluid movement, while taking your specific procedure and stage of healing into account.
Early post-operative treatment should not be an aggressive body-sculpting massage. Your treatment is adapted as your body heals, not repeated identically at every appointment.
Depending on your procedure and individual needs, your post-operative care may include the following.
Gentle techniques adapted to your procedure, your swelling and your stage of recovery.
Monitoring expected post-operative swelling, and recognising when swelling falls outside the expected pattern.
Monitoring changes in tissue texture, firmness and healing throughout your recovery.
As healing progresses, we assess areas of developing firmness or irregular tissue and adapt treatment appropriately.
Education around garments, fit and progression through stages, always consistent with your surgeon's instructions.
General education around scar maturation and tissue recovery, with referral back to your surgical team where required.
Understanding what commonly happens during recovery, what you can do at home, and when something needs medical attention.
We do not replace your surgeon. If we identify symptoms that may indicate a complication, treatment stops and you are directed to the right medical service.
Every procedure heals differently. A tummy tuck is not a Lipo 360, and a BBL is not a breast lift. Your care is adapted accordingly.
Liposuction around multiple areas of the torso can result in considerable swelling, bruising, tenderness and temporary tissue change. Recovery may include post-surgery lymphatic drainage, swelling management, tissue monitoring, fibrosis support and compression guidance.
Abdominoplasty is major abdominal surgery and needs a different approach from standalone liposuction. Care considers abdominal swelling, incisions, restricted mobility, compression and tissue healing. We do not massage directly over fresh surgical incisions or interfere with your surgeon's wound-management plan.
Brazilian Butt Lift recovery needs particular attention to your surgeon's restrictions and positioning instructions. Support may include treatment of appropriate liposuction areas, swelling management and garment guidance. We do not use techniques that place unnecessary pressure on recently transferred fat.
For breast lift, reduction and augmentation. Treatment is adapted carefully around the surgical area, focusing on surrounding swelling, comfort, lymphatic pathways and mobility. Implants, incisions and operated breast tissue are not aggressively manipulated.
Combination surgery places greater demands on the body. Where a tummy tuck, liposuction and breast surgery are healing at the same time, a structured recovery plan usually serves you better than booking individual appointments.
Available to men following male liposuction, Lipo 360, VASER, high-definition liposuction, gynecomastia surgery, male breast reduction, chest liposuction, male abdominoplasty, body lift and combination contouring procedures.
Following facelift, neck lift, facial or chin liposuction and lower-face procedures. Facial recovery needs a different approach from body treatment. Fresh incisions and recently operated facial tissue are not aggressively massaged.
Post-surgery lymphatic drainage should evolve through your recovery rather than repeating the same routine every time.
The priority is gentle support, not aggressive sculpting. Treatment may focus on gentle lymphatic techniques, comfort, swelling, appropriate movement, recovery education and monitoring your progress.
As healing progresses and where appropriate, treatment may begin addressing persistent swelling, areas of firmness, tissue texture, early fibrosis-related changes, compression progression, and mobility and comfort.
Once sufficiently healed, your programme can shift towards longer-term tissue recovery and, where suitable, aesthetic body-contouring goals, such as Wood Therapy. Your treatment should progress with your body, not follow a rigid routine.
Cosmetic surgery recovery commonly requires a course of post-surgery lymphatic drainage rather than one isolated massage. For procedures involving extensive liposuction, some clients have approximately 10 to 20 sessions across their recovery, though that is not a guaranteed figure for everyone.
Following consultation, we recommend a structured post-surgery lymphatic drainage plan based on what we actually find, not on a package we would like to sell you.
Compression can be an important part of recovery when prescribed by your surgical team. Incorrect compression can cause discomfort and unnecessary pressure. Your surgeon's instructions always take priority.
Typically the early recovery period. Stage 1 garments generally provide gentler compression and accommodate early post-operative swelling.
As swelling reduces and your surgeon permits progression, a firmer garment may be appropriate. We can supply Stage 2 garments where suitable.
Later-stage garments provide stronger compression for appropriately healed clients. We can supply Stage 3 garments too, and help assess fit and progression.
Knowing when not to treat someone is just as important as knowing how to perform lymphatic drainage. Treatment may be postponed or stopped if we identify symptoms requiring medical assessment. These can include:
Depending on the symptoms, you may be advised to contact your surgical team, NHS 111 or emergency services. Massage should never delay appropriate medical assessment.

We welcome clients who had surgery in the UK and abroad. If you are still planning to travel, arrange your UK aftercare before you go.
Please keep copies of your procedure details, surgeon information, discharge paperwork, medication information, aftercare instructions, compression instructions and emergency contact information.
Your overseas surgeon remains responsible for your surgical care. We provide complementary post-surgery lymphatic drainage and recovery support within our professional scope, and we do not replace surgical or NHS medical follow-up.
Every recovery is different. Choose individual sessions for flexible support, or a package for consistent care throughout your healing. You do not need to buy a package to be seen.
Ideal if you only need one or a few post-surgery lymphatic drainage sessions.

Our approach to post-surgery lymphatic drainage has developed through years of working with clients after cosmetic procedures.
Your treatment changes as your body heals, rather than repeating the same massage at every appointment.
We assess before treating, and we understand that sometimes the correct decision is not to massage.
You will understand what we are doing, why, and what you should be monitoring between appointments.
Stage 2 and Stage 3 garments can be supplied where appropriate, alongside your surgeon's instructions.
Instead of a different therapist each time, your recovery is monitored across the whole programme.
We complement your surgical aftercare. We do not diagnose complications, override your surgeon or pretend massage replaces medical treatment.
Specialist post-surgery lymphatic drainage is harder to find than a general massage, so people travel for it. Our clinic is in Spon End, a few minutes from Coventry city centre, with parking nearby and easy access from the M6, M69 and M40.
Clients come to us from across Warwickshire and the West Midlands, and regularly from much further afield, including people flying back into Birmingham or Heathrow after surgery abroad who book their first appointment on the way home.
Already had your surgery? It is not too late. You do not need to have booked with us before your operation. Wherever you are in the UK, tell us your procedure and surgery date and we will tell you honestly whether the journey is worth it.
If yours is not here, call +44 7591 092255 with your procedure and surgery date.
Yes. Liposuction, including Lipo 360 and VASER, is the procedure we see most often. After liposuction your body has to clear a significant amount of post-surgical fluid, and manual lymphatic drainage is the technique most commonly recommended to support that process. Treatment is adapted to the areas treated and how far into recovery you are.
MLD is manual lymphatic drainage, a gentle, rhythmic technique that supports the movement of lymphatic fluid. Post-operative MLD is not the same as a standard wellness lymphatic massage. After surgery it has to account for your procedure, incisions, swelling pattern, compression garments and your surgeon's restrictions.
Individual sessions are £90, or £110 for facial and neck recovery. Packages reduce the cost per session: 5 sessions £430, 10 sessions £860, 15 sessions £1,300 and 20 sessions £1,700. You do not need to buy a package to be seen. Klarna and Clearpay are available for payments made in clinic.
As healing progresses, your practitioner can assess areas of developing firmness or irregular tissue and adapt your treatment appropriately. Fibrosis support is part of a structured recovery programme rather than a guaranteed single-session fix, and we will be honest about what is realistic in your case.
It depends on your procedure and, above all, on your surgeon. Many clients begin within the first days after surgery, but your surgeon's instructions always take priority over any timeline we might suggest. Bring your discharge paperwork and aftercare instructions to your first appointment and we will work within them.
There is no single number that applies to every surgery, but cosmetic surgery recovery commonly needs a course of care rather than one isolated massage. For procedures involving extensive liposuction, some clients have approximately 10 to 20 sessions across their recovery, though that is not a guaranteed figure. We recommend a plan after assessing you.
No, and this matters. Standard wellness lymphatic drainage and post-operative care are not the same service. Post-operative clients need additional assessment because treatment must take account of your procedure, stage of healing, incisions, swelling, pain, surgeon instructions, compression garments and any potential complications. Please do not book a standard lymphatic drainage appointment after surgery.
Post-operative lymphatic techniques use gentle, controlled movements rather than heavy pressure. Early post-operative treatment should not be an aggressive body-sculpting massage. Some areas may feel tender because of the surgery itself, but the treatment should remain comfortable and is adjusted throughout.
Yes. We welcome clients who had surgery in the UK and overseas. Please keep copies of your procedure details, surgeon information, discharge paperwork, medication information, aftercare and compression instructions, and emergency contact details. Your overseas surgeon remains responsible for your surgical care, and we do not replace surgical or NHS follow-up. If you are still planning to travel, arrange your UK aftercare before you go.
No. We do not massage directly over fresh surgical incisions or interfere with your surgeon's wound-management plan. Treatment is adapted around the surgical area, and implants, incisions and recently operated tissue are not aggressively manipulated.
As healing progresses, your practitioner can assess areas of developing firmness or irregular tissue and adapt your treatment appropriately. We are careful not to overpromise here. Fibrosis support is part of a structured recovery programme, not a guaranteed single-session fix.
Yes, we can provide Stage 2 and Stage 3 garments where suitable, and help assess fit and progression alongside your surgical team's instructions. One thing worth saying plainly: tighter does not automatically mean better. Incorrect compression can cause discomfort and unnecessary pressure.
Before any treatment, we assess how you are recovering. We may ask about your procedure and surgery date, your surgeon and surgical facility, your surgeon's aftercare instructions, pain levels, medication, mobility, swelling and bruising, incisions and wound status, compression garments, and any symptoms since surgery. Treatment proceeds only where it appears appropriate within our scope of practice.
Yes, and knowing when not to treat is as important as technique. Treatment may be postponed or stopped if we identify symptoms requiring medical assessment, including suspected DVT, signs of significant infection, wound breakdown, chest pain, shortness of breath or sudden deterioration. Depending on the symptoms you may be advised to contact your surgical team, NHS 111 or emergency services. Massage should never delay appropriate medical assessment.
No. You do not need to have booked with us before your operation. Whether you are a few days into recovery or further along, contact us to arrange appropriate post-operative care. Tell us your procedure, surgery date, where it was performed and where you are in recovery.
Yes. A Pre-Surgical Recovery Consultation may include reviewing your planned procedures, discussing recovery stages, planning appointments, preparing your home recovery environment, planning transport and support, discussing surgeon-approved compression requirements, preparing questions for your surgical team, nicotine and vaping cessation education, and understanding post-operative warning signs.
Tell us what procedure you have had, your surgery date, where it was performed, where you are in recovery and any instructions from your surgeon. We will help you decide whether an individual appointment or structured support is more appropriate.
